Durante la celebración de la semana del clima en América Latina y el Caribe que se lleva a cabo en la República Dominicana, la CCAD organizó el panel “La transición hacia una energía baja en carbono para Centroamérica y República Dominicana: Iniciativa AFOLU 2040.”
En el panel participaron dos empresarios ganaderos de la provincia El Seibo, los señores Félix Paredes de Hacienda el Morro y Enrique de Castro de Negocios e Inversiones Diversas, ambos explicando sobre las acciones de restauración que estarán implementando en sus fincas en el marco del proyecto El Seibo Resiliente, para aumentar la productividad de las fincas, conservar los suelos, la biodiversidad y el recurso hídrico.
Estas acciones contribuyen a aumentar la resiliencia climática y a mitigar las emisiones de gases de efectos invernadero provenientes de la agricultura, ganadería y silvicultura.
Durante el panel, se contó con la presencia del secretario general de la Comisión Centroamericana de Ambiente y Desarrollo (CCAD), el señor Jair Urriola, así como viceministros del Ministerio de Agricultura y Medio Ambiente de distintos países de la región.
